Plastic emulsion paints
An emulsion is a mixture made of two immiscible liquids and contains fine suspended particles. Emulsion paints carry synthetic resins, pigments and water. The emulsion is composed of plastic compounds in plastic emulsion paints. Commonly used plastic compounds are vinyl acetate and accrylate. Emulsion paints are normally used for interior decoration. The advantages of emulsion paints are easy to apply, quick drying property and odorless. But they are quite expensive. Emulsion paints are not suitable for metals. The emulsion paints should be applied as thin coats. The maximum allowed thickness is 0.04 mm. thinning of paint using water has to be done before application. Normally for first coat, it is half liter per kg and for second coat one fourth of litre per kg. The walls painted with plastic emulsion can be maintained easily by moping of soiled parts with a wet cloth.
